Book Description

Shaykh Akram Nadwi often addresses diverse inquiries from followers of different Islamic jurisprudential schools and provides detailed and evidence-based responses aimed at enriching the questioners' knowledge and offering them reassurance. He draws extensively on the methodologies of prominent figures like Imam Ibn Taymiyyah, Shaykh Rashid Rida, and Shaykh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi (may Allah have mercy on them).

The author follows a systematic approach to answering questions:

  1. Thorough understanding of the issue at hand, consulting experts in fields such as medicine, economics, or psychology, if necessary.
  2. Referencing Quranic texts, Prophetic traditions, the fatwas of the Companions and their followers, and the opinions of eminent scholars.
  3. Striving for ease and accuracy in providing answers.
  4. Writing fatwas in simple, accessible language rather than complex legal terminology.
  5. Providing real-life examples to clarify issues.
  6. Beginning each response with an introduction that strengthens the connection of the questioners with Allah and His Messenger, emphasizing the merciful nature of Sharia and simplifying the understanding and practice of religion.

The author observed the benefits of this method in strengthening the relationship between intellectuals and their faith. Encouraged by many scholars who appreciated its clarity and correctness, he was requested to write a concise guide on the principles of issuing fatwas for students at Al-Salam Institute.

The book is divided into an introduction, six chapters, and a conclusion. It is intended for students who have studied the Arabic language, Tafsir, Hadith and its sciences, Fiqh and its principles, and legal maxims.

The book does not focus on the traditional subjects of Usul al-Fiqh such as the Quran, Sunnah, Ijma', and Qiyas, as these require separate detailed study. Instead, it addresses practical matters specifically beneficial for issuing fatwas.
